Virtual Tour

Our Virtual Tour is online.
It made me a little nostalgic to go back and look at these pictures we took 5 years ago. Seems like a lifetime ago.

Tired
Last night Holly and I were squeezing in some final prep work and cleanup before people come to take pictures today. When going to bed at 1AM, 5AM comes really quickly. The good news is we're ready. Pictures today and the house will most likely be on the market tomorrow. Here we go...

4th of July Weekend
What a fantastic weekend! The weather was perfect for summer fun on the river and a day at Valleyfair. We had a crowd at our house sharing the fun: My aunt Sheryl, uncle Rick and cousin Megan, their dog Carter, my mom Julie and dad Bob, Holly's mom Shonna and dad Jerry, Holly's sister Teresa, brother-in-law Russ and their daughters Alicia and Jackie, Alicia's boyfriend Ryan, Holly's sister Aimee, her daughters Kalie and Kelsie, her son Alex and their dog Skipper.
Thursday we worked on the house getting it ready to sell. The basement is finished, the deck railing is secure and aside from a little painting we're ready to put it on the market.

Mother and daughter
Friday we spent on the river skiing, tube wars (two tubes at once) and lounging around.
Saturday we went to Valleyfair. There were a few sprinkles which ended up being a good thing as the park wasn't busy. The clouds broke enough in the afternoon to make it nice and hot for the wave pool. Noticing dark clouds rolling in we did a couple last rides and headed for the cars. We ended up getting a little bit wet but not bad. By the time we were home it was sunny and hot and we spent the early evening wakeboarding. At night we sat around the fire and watched a house across the river put on a fireworks show rivaling some town shows.

Lilly

Impending doom
Sunday was more skiing and tubing and jetski rides. A minor glitch to the day occurred when one of the jetskis sucked a ski rope into the pump and had to be towed back to the landing. Lilly headed home with Holly's family giving us the early part of the week to finish getting the house ready to show. Holly and I ended the weekend with a nice lap in the park.
The weekend was so fun it prompted comments on why we'd want to move. There were also comments on what we could all do next Fourth of July in Colorado.

We're Moving
A New Job, A New Home and A New Adventure...
Last Friday I accepted a Software Project Manager position with Baxa, a small medical device company in Englewood, CO. The new job will be a great opportunity for me to grow professionally. I have since submitted a resignation letter to Medtronic with my last day as July 17th. We'll do RAGBRAI the week after and my first day in Colorado will be July 29th.
I have been looking for different opportunities for about 3 years now. I started looking internal to Medtronic but with the current business climate and the (now yearly) layoffs there was little to find. I settled into the, "Be glad you have a job" attitude for a couple years and then realized I'm unhappy because I'm not learning and growing. After submitting numerous resumes to postings in the Twin Cities and Denver I interviewed with three companies, all of which were out of state.
The plan for now is to sell the house with me (and Boo) moving ahead and living with my sister. Holly and Lilly will live here in Minnesota until the house sells and then we'll look for a new home in our new state. We'll also have to sell the boat and Waverunner.
We believe this will be good for a number of reasons. We hope to find a neighborhood with more kids and we'll love living closer to a family member (my sister and brother-in-law live in Denver). It will be a lot of work and is very hard leaving the people to whom we've grown close. It's hard to leave something comfortable. It will also be a fun adventure as we move and figure out a new place.
Thank you to everyone who has befriended us here. You've helped us grow. We will truly miss you.
